                        About Us / FAQ

                        About Us

Florissant Valley Baptist Church is a Southern Baptist church in the suburbs of St. Louis in the city of Florissant, MO. While we are proud of our Baptist heritage and the opportunity of cooperating with others of like faith in accomplishing God's purposes, we see ourselves first as a New Testament Christian fellowship. We are a welcoming church, inviting everyone who will, regardless of religious background to join us for worship. We want everyone to know of Christ and His love.

We are a church that is not large in size but we are large in vision. We already are involved in many ministries that impact our community, but we want to be known as a church that makes Christ's love real for those around us. We are reaching out to include people of various ages, races, economic, and other backgrounds so that we can be a living demonstration of how God's love breaks the barriers that divide us.

We are a church of strong commitment to Christ, the Bible, and God's standards for living, but we believe that since God is a God of mercy, compassion, and grace, we must carry our beliefs in deep humility and express them in kindness and love.

"If I speak with tongues of men and angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal." 1 Corinthians 13:1

We have a variety of ministries that minister to a variety of people and their needs such as children, youth, and senior adults. We also have a variety of opportunities in ministry so that people can use their gifts, experience, and abilities. We are deeply committed to discipleship and Bible studies and offer a variety of opportunities for people to learn about Christianity or grow in their faith. Please, check out the rest of this website for more details. Then check out our church if you can. We'd love to welcome you!

                      • Frequently Asked Questions

What do people wear to your church?

It’s pretty wide open. Some wear suits and dresses. Some wear jeans.  Most wear dress casual: guys – slacks and a polo shirt, ladies – slacks or skirt and a shirt or blouse. Dress really isn’t an issue. Wear what you feel comfortable wearing. We’re not having a fashion show.

                        Are children welcome?

YES! Absolutely. We love kids. We have wonderful preschool and children’s workers. Check out our children’s programs on the website.

What type of music is played during the worship service?

In our Sunday morning worship, we do a variety of choruses and hymns in a contemporary style with a praise band. Our service contains both traditional and contemporary elements so it might be referred to as a blended service. Our goal is to have meaningful worship done with creativity and excellence.

Who is welcome to attend your church?

You are. Everyone is. We’d like to welcome you!

                        Are you handicap accessible?

Yes, we are. The sanctuary, fellowship hall, and main floor classrooms are all accessible from a wheelchair ramp by the church offices (southeast entrance). Some parts of the building are not, but we plan accordingly so that those with wheelchairs or walkers don’t miss out on anything they want to be a part of.
